Content ManagementManagement vs MigrationBack in 2001 I knocked up some notes on a Content Migration mechanism, the thought being that in an publishing environment with multiple publishing points and mechanisms to a test hosting environment, content authors could manage their test site using what ever means they deem appropriate, then use a single web based centralised migration tool to migrate their content to the live environment.
Automatic Content/Template MigrationIn 2002 wrote about an Automatic Template Migration effort to batch convert hundreds of HTML files from a legacy website from one template style to another. The effort turned into more of a project in scale but the lessons learned were of use for subsequent migrations of other sites into more manageable forms.

PDF: Unfit for Human Consumptionfrom Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox : Users get lost inside PDF files, which are typically big, linear text blobs that are optimized for print and unpleasant to read and navigate on-line. PDF is good for printing, but that's it. Don't use it for on-line presentation.
